LITTLE ONE, YOU’RE READY TO STEP CONFIDENTLY INTO GRADE 1

Moving from Preschool to Grade 1 is an important milestone in a child’s journey of growing up. Leaving behind a familiar environment filled with play and exploration, children begin to adapt to new learning routines, make new friends, and take on greater independence.

This transition is not only a big step for children but also a time when many parents naturally wonder: Will my child adjust well? Will my child feel confident in this new environment?

Understanding these changes, Pathway School thoughtfully designs the first week of Grade 1 as a gentle transition, giving students time to gradually become familiar with their new school environment, teachers, friends, and daily routines while feeling happy, calm, and at ease.

Building Connections and Becoming Part of a New Community

Through activities such as Setting Goals for Harmony, Learning Buddies, Getting to Know One Another, Circle Time, and Mindful Mealtime, students begin their first lessons with simple and familiar experiences.

In each activity, children learn to introduce themselves, listen to others, share their thoughts, cooperate with friends, and follow shared routines. Through these small everyday interactions, the distance between new friends gradually disappears, helping each child feel that they belong and become more confident about coming to school each day.

Building Physical Strength, Discipline, and the Courage to Take on Challenges

Alongside activities that help students connect with one another, children also take part in age-appropriate physical training.

From formation and drill exercises that introduce discipline, concentration, and coordination to a Sasuke-style obstacle course featuring challenges such as crawling under nets, climbing rope ladders, and hanging from bars, every experience encourages children to confidently give things a try and gradually move beyond their own limits.

Through each challenge, students not only develop agility, coordination, and endurance but also learn to persevere, take initiative, and approach new experiences with greater confidence.

The first week of school will soon pass, but those first friendships, first routines, and the joy of completing a challenge independently will become small yet meaningful building blocks for the Elementary School journey ahead.
