CHECK IN: MEANINGFUL MOMENTS FROM THE FIRST WEEK AT PATHWAY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The first week of a new school year is not only a time for students to become familiar with their learning environment, teachers, and friends, but also an important beginning that helps them prepare for the journey ahead.

At Pathway Elementary School, the first days of the 2026–2027 school year began with warm and engaging activities deeply connected to the School’s culture, helping students understand themselves, connect with others, and gradually become part of their new community.

Recognizing Emotions: Understanding Ourselves to Connect with Others

Through emotional check-in activities, students are encouraged to observe what is happening within themselves and learn to identify and share how they feel.

From excitement and happiness to a little uncertainty during the first days back at school, every emotion is heard and acknowledged.

Through these experiences, students gradually develop the ability to recognize, express, and regulate their emotions, an important foundation for building positive relationships within the school community.

Becoming Familiar with Pathway Culture Through Everyday Activities

Pathway culture naturally becomes part of students’ daily school life through activities such as singing mindfulness songs, Circle Time, listening to the mindfulness bell, practicing self-service routines during mealtimes, and working with teachers and friends to set shared goals for harmony.

Through each experience, students not only learn about the School’s cultural values but also gradually put them into practice in their everyday actions: pausing to observe, listening attentively, taking care of their own needs, respecting others, and taking responsibility for their community.

Learning to Cooperate and Build a Harmonious Community Together

Group activities give students opportunities to sit together, exchange ideas, listen to different perspectives, and collaborate with friends to complete shared tasks.

Every student has the opportunity to contribute while learning to respect differences and understand their own role within the group.

Through situations drawn from everyday school life, students also discuss appropriate ways to respond with their teachers, learning to recognize what they should do and what they should avoid in order to build a safe, positive, and harmonious learning environment together.

In particular, the Four Pledges serve as meaningful reminders for every student to cultivate courage, responsibility, love, and discipline, preparing them to begin the new school year with Proactivity and determination.

Emotional Education Is Part of Every School Day

At Pathway School, Emotional Education is not limited to a separate lesson. It is nurtured through learning activities and everyday school routines.

From recognizing their own emotions and listening to a friend, to working together to complete a task and independently following daily routines, every experience helps students better understand themselves and learn how to live harmoniously with others.

So that each day at school brings more than new knowledge, students also learn to find peace within themselves, take greater ownership of their actions, and grow through every experience.
